The place is located right by Harold Park. It's probably easier to get in from the front (I don't remember the street name but you can see a little skate ramp from there. There are high fences but it's quite easy to get into that area. The front gates are high enough to crawl/roll under.
Going closer to the tram shed, we didn't know how to actually get in. We climbed through a hole in the fence. Luckily there were a few people leaving (there were wedding photos happening too..) who told us to climb through a window at the back. "It's a bit muddy" they all say. A BIT MUDDY IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT.
The side and the back had a little muddy walkway (apparently it's always muddy there) where you would have to walk on pipes, milk crates, wooden planks and old chairs to avoid sinking into the mud. The open window is accessed by stepping unto an upside down rolly bin and entering the dark creepy toilets. It probably takes about 10 minutes to walk through all that mud and climbing in.
OH HAI.
The only trouble was all that mud. My suggestions (if you're going in without the gates/doors being open) are: wear boots and if you see large rocks, bricks, crates, planks of wood, etc BEFORE reaching the mud, BRING THEM WITH YOU. You may need it later when you're balancing on a small sinking piece of plank into the muddy pit of doom and destruction. The crates and stuff already there were quite unstable.
Might check out the Dunlop factory soon... has anyone been there?

ReplyDeleteNow the whole internet has seen my muddy posterior D:!
Your photos look absolutely fantastic :D
+ Thanks for linking me !!
I look a mixture of both shocked and somewhat despondent in both those pictures haha XD
- Jack !
Hahaha!!!! It's a mud-warning for future tramshed explorers!
ReplyDeleteI dunno if it's just me but I host my pictures at photobucket and it changes the contrast levels. I'm comparing the ones I upload onto flickr to the ones here and it looks quite different even though they're the exact same file. :/
Hahaha fair enough :P
ReplyDeleteI just did a quick compare between your first three here and the same three you posted on flickr. Iono it's kind of hard to say :/ Like I think I also see a difference but it's veryveryvery small - flickr seemed to make the contrast just that tiny bit brighter. Do you think it's part of photobucket's compression system? :S
Though regardless they still look amazing ! It's a teenytiny change :)
The photos on flickr is exactly how I see them on my computer. The ones on photobucket is really washed out in my opinion. But yeah, thanks. I thought it was just me being over observant/going crazy and there isn't actually a difference at all. Haha
ReplyDeleteHaha it's okay ! :P
ReplyDeletewhen are you going? take me with youuuuuuuuuu ;)
ReplyDeleteWhen are you ever free, Sujin?! I'm a bit hesitant to go to the Dunlop factory, I need to get someone I know to go first and report back to me... ;)
ReplyDeleteAnnie, you are so good at what you do. You just have an eye.
ReplyDeleteI love your work, as always!
Aw thank you! You are too kind <3
ReplyDeleteI think you would LOVE to shoot/explore this place.
